ONE VOICE AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER
The Truth about childhood cancer is not acceptable

CHILDHOOD CANCER – THE TRUTH

Cancer kills more Australian children than all other diseases combined. Around 1 in 285 kids are diagnosed prior to reaching adulthood. Over 10,000 Australian children are fighting cancer now. Another 1,100 are diagnosed each year. 1 in 5 kids die within 5 years of diagnosis.

Current treatments are outdated and toxic. Side effects both short and long term are inhumane. 90% of childhood cancer survivors develop chronic, life long health problems. Survivors are at greater risk of developing secondary cancers. Overall survival is compromised.

CHILDHOOD CANCER – THE REALITY

Childhood cancer is not the same as adult cancer. There are no known risk factors and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. Childhood cancer does not discriminate and can affect any child. Improved survival rates are 100% reliant on research.

Despite the wonderful advances made in medicine, childhood cancer survival rates have plateaued for nearly a decade! To date, paediatric cancer research has been insufficiently funded in Australia and internationally. Our children suffer and die as a consequence. The situation is unacceptable and must change. We must act now!
